Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Tottenham's transfer plans ahead of the window's closure in his exclusive newsletter for GIVEMESPORT.
Spurs are seeking to make late additions to Thomas Frank's squad before the deadline passes. Having lost out on Eberechi Eze, after north London rivals Arsenal hijacked their move for the former Crystal Palace star, they are looking for an attacking-minded midfielder.
Speaking ahead of Tottenham's 2-0 victory against Manchester City, Frank said that he was confident that the club would sign another player before the deadline passes. But according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Romano, there could be multiple incomings in north London.
Asked about potential defensive signings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Romano revealed that the club's priority before the transfer window closes is to attract two attacking players. Frank and Daniel Levy are looking to sign a winger and a number 10 before September 1st, but they could also make a move for a defender if they have any funds remaining.
"It could be an option, but it will also be based on funds available as a winger and No.10 are needed."
The news comes after reports that Spurs were 'stepping up their efforts' to sign defender Nathan Collins from Frank's former club Brentford. The Irishman has impressed in west London since arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2023, with Frank a known admirer.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statisic: Collins played 77 matches for Frank during their time together at Brentford.
Having conceded 65 goals in the league last year as they finished 17th in the table, there is certainly a desire to sure up the backline for the 2025/26 season. Romano has also revealed that Tottenham have made an approach for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, who is pushing to leave the club.
The Ecuadorian is highly-rated, though, and is attracting interest from fellow north Londoners Arsenal, according to David Ornstein, with his preference being a move to the Emirates. Although another hijacking could be in the offing, the Gunners would have to sell players before they sign him, which could potentially allow Spurs to complete a deal instead.
Tottenham will be anticipating a hectic end to the summer window, as they hope to conclude a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho. Sales could then allow them to sign either Hincapie or Collins, with Yves Bissouma a potential target for London rivals West Ham.
