Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on the growing speculation regarding Tottenham’s expected approach for Ange Postecoglou’s potential replacement.

Over the last couple of months, a whole host of managers have been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur hot seat, with various outlets suggesting that the Lilywhites have already begun their search for Ange Postecoglou’s replacement.

Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Thomas Frank have been installed as the frontrunners for the Tottenham job and it has even been claimed by some sources that Spurs have already reached out to Iraola.

The Lilywhites are also thought to be looking at young English managers, with Scott Parker said to have admirers at Tottenham, while Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is also alleged to be on Spurs’ radar.

These rumours do not even scratch the surface as several more managers, including some of the biggest names in world football, have been linked with the Tottenham hot seat.

However, Fabrizio Romano has shared that, according to his sources, Tottenham have not made advances towards any coaches yet, with the club solely focused on the Europa League.

When asked about the growing speculation regarding Postecoglou’s replacement, Romano told GiveMeSport: “I’m not aware of anything advanced on this one yet, Spurs will not make any decision now with the Europa League semi-finals due to start soon.”

Tottenham want to avoid the mistakes made in 2021 and 2023

Interestingly, some reports over the last few weeks have said that Spurs are keen to appoint a manager early in the summer and do not wish for the search to drag on as it did in 2021 and 2023.

If that is what Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy want, they would not want to wait until the end of the season to start their search.

Contrary to what Romano says, it is thus very much possible that candidates have been sounded out behind the scenes, although it does not appear as if anything is advanced at the moment.
