Tottenham Hotspur have been told they must offer a permanent deal to sign Ademola Lookman if they want to bring the Atalanta forward to North London on deadline day.
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Lookman's situation, with the Nigerian reportedly keen to leave Gewiss Stadium after missing out on a move to Inter Milan in July. He has two years left on his contract, and the Italian club are only willing to part ways through a permanent sale rather than a loan.
Lookman has impressed during his time in Italy, developing into one of Europe's most highly regarded attackers. He also has Premier League experience, having previously played for Fulham and Everton.
Tottenham Must Offer To Sign Lookman Permanently
Lookman dropped a statement earlier this summer confirming his desire to depart and acknowledging the Inter offer. Spurs are joined in the race for the Nigeria international by Bayern Munich, who are eyeing the 27-year-old in light of Nicolas Jackson's loan being terminated by Chelsea.
Romano has delved into the situation and what Atalanta's demands are for the player. He said on his YouTube channel:
"Atalanta's message is very clear on Ademola Lookman, permanent transfer or nothing. Guaranteed obligation to buy or nothing. They are not sending the player on loan without an option to buy for 28 million euros. This is the message to Bayern, this is the message to Tottenham because Lookman is also on Tottenham's list."
Lookman could be keen to return to the English top-flight with perhaps a point to prove after a disappointing spell at Fulham and Everton. He has become a "world-class" talent at Atalanta which is why they are insisting on a suitable fee for their wantaway forward:
"(Whoever) wants to sign Lookman has to put down the money, a permanent transfer proposal or loan with obligation. Atalanta already rejected 45 million euros on permanent deal or loan with obligation to buy , so guaranteed money from Inter Milan in July. They want a permanent transfer for Lookman."
Lookman isn't the only attacker on Spurs' radar on deadline day as they are reportedly in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible deal for Randal Kolo Muani. This comes after they sealed the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on Friday.
