Fabrizio Romano is anticipating Tottenham Hotspur to be busy in the coming days as they eye two attackers but a move for a former Arsenal star is not on the cards.
Roberto De Zerbi has been backed with six new signings so far this summer and his bosses have spent a staggering £237 million. Sandro Tonali became the club's record signing, arriving from Newcastle United for £100 million.
Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have also joined the Lilywhites. Transfer activity has quieted since Tonali's arrival on July 6th, but the club is looking to bolster De Zerbi's attack.
Savinho is a long-term target, and the Manchester City winger is believed to be keen on a move to Spurs. The Brazilian isn't the only Premier League attacker whom the North Londoners want to sign.
Tottenham Plans Include Gakpo and Savinho
Liverpool's Cody Gakpo has become one of De Zerbi's top targets and Romano has confirmed the club are trying to sign both players. He said on his YouTube channel:
More movements are expected at Tottenham in the next days, because don’t forget their top targets remain two players: one is Cody Gakpo, the other one is Savinho. On the wings, they are working on these two deals.
Savinho has endured a difficult spell at City amid a lack of regular game time and Enzo Maresca replacing Pep Guardiola hasn't appeared to change the situation. GIVEMESPORT sources understand that Spurs are growing increasingly confident of sealing a deal for the Brazilian.
As for Gakpo, he has been a more prominent member of the Liverpool team during his spell at Anfield. The Dutchman's future is in doubt, though amid the Reds' interest in Paris Saint-Germain left-winger Bradley Barcola.
Romano also touched on rumours linking the North London club with AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun:
"No negotiations for Folarin Balogun. I know there have been many reports in the last 24 hours, but Tottenham are not working on a Balogun deal. The two top targets [for] wingers remain Cody Gakpo and Savinho. [The] alternative is Pedro Neto, who is very expensive."
A new center-forward has been on the agenda, but previous top target Junior Kroupi suffered an injury during Bournemouth's pre-season. It's been suggested that the club will wait until next year to revisit pursuing the French star.
Pedro Neto has emerged as a possible alternative should they fail to sign either Savinho or Gakpo. While reports claim contact has been made with Chelsea over a potential deal for the Portuguese star, it appears his price tag would be a stumbling block.
Tottenham Will Be Overpaying
Savinho appears to be the most likely arrival of those mentioned by Romano and reports in Brazil claim Tottenham have made an £85 million bid. That is a ridiculously high fee for a player who has yet to impress in English football, only showing glimpses of promise.
Paying such a huge price for the 22-year-old could come back to bite the Lilywhites, especially if he doesn't realise his potential under De Zerbi. It's a risky move and one that undoes the club's impressive work in the window thus far.

Tonali was expensive but he's proven his worth as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. The same can be said for Fernandes, who is young but made his mark at West Ham United with inspired performances last season.
