Tottenham Hotspur are set for a new era without Daniel Levy, but it's unclear how their transfer business will now be impacted, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
It was confirmed last week that Levy would be leaving Tottenham after more than 20 years at the club. Spurs are now set to head in a new direction, with rumours swirling that a takeover could be imminent. Reports later confirmed that Tottenham sources have said that the Lewis family won't be selling the club, while Amanda Staveley is set to release a statement suggesting that she won't be looking to purchase Spurs.
Tottenham and Levy have gone hand-in-hand in their recent history, and it's going to be strange to see the parties not associated going forward. Whether it will be a positive for the club remains to be seen.
Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham Transfer Business After Levy Exit
Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano was asked whether Levy's departure could impact Tottenham's transfer business going forward, after reports claimed they could start to offer higher wages. Romano suggests that it's too early to tell how their business will change, as we have to see how the new management will handle their recruitment.
"Nothing about this is decided yet; now we have to see how new management will be handling this, but it’s too early to say."
It was a relatively strong summer transfer window for Spurs, who heavily focused on bringing in players to instantly improve their starting XI. Over the last few years, Tottenham's recruitment strategy has been to sign up-and-coming stars for the future, but this summer, they leaned more towards signing ready-made players after a disappointing 2024/2025 season.
Joao Palhinha, who signed on loan from Bayern Munich, and Mohammed Kudus, who joined the club from London rivals West Ham United, have already made an instant impact under Thomas Frank. Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons also signed on the dotted line later in the window, but they are yet to make their debuts for the club.
Tottenham are now heading in a new direction without Levy at the helm, and it's going to be interesting to discover whether their recruitment strategy drastically changes in the near future, especially if a takeover does take place over the next few years.
