Everton are set to lose a number of players as free agents at the end of the month.
David Moyes has seen some big holes open up in his squad as the Toffees have allowed numerous players to let their contracts run out.
There are a number of players who Everton could look to bring in themselves on a free to add to their own squad.
It is proving to be a difficult market to operate in for the Blues, with a lot of their targets also being eyed by other Premier League clubs.
Everton hope their new stadium will attract new players this summer, which could provide them with an advantage over some of their rivals.
However, the Friedkins find themselves competing with some of the top sides in the Premier League as they aim for big improvements on Merseyside.
There is now one player who Everton are going to have to battle Tottenham Hotspur for over the coming weeks.
Everton to battle Tottenham Hotspur for Kyle Walker-Peters
Since he was appointed in January, Moyes has demanded a new full-back at Everton with his options even more limited now.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Everton have shown an interest in Kyle Walker-Peters, with the Southampton defender set to leave at the end of his contract.
According to Tottenham reporter Alasdair Gold, Walker-Peters has given his approval of a potential return to his former club.
Spurs need club-trained players to register for their Champions League squad, which would all but guarantee Walker-Peters European participation for the new season.
This is not something Everton could offer the ‘fantastic‘ 28-year-old, but he would arguably have a better opportunity at being a starter on Merseyside.
Everton are also keen to sign Kyle Walker from Manchester City, with his own future up in the air despite having one year remaining on his current deal at the Etihad.
Spurs are keen to explore other options first before making a move for their former player; this has to be the hurry-up Everton need to make their own swoop.
Everton need to be smart in the market
The Friedkins are backing Everton in their first summer at the club as they are aware improvements are needed.
However, the club will still need to be mindful of the constant battle against PSR.
Increased revenue from Everton’s stadium will improve the finances, but the recruitment staff will be keen to make some shrewd signings through the free agent and loan market.
It has to be said Everton’s loan deals did not really pay off last season with the likes of Armando Broja, Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison failing to impress.
But the club have now put together a new-look recruitment room to make some big leaps forward this summer.
