Tottenham Hotspur will seal a string of transfers today as July arrives and Roberto De Zerbi's transfer rebuild continues at pace

Tottenham will complete four transfers on Wednesday and will be hoping to seal a record fifth before the day comes to a close.

It's been a busy transfer window so far for the north London side as Roberto De Zerbi leads a squad rebuild to ensure Spurs compete far higher up the Premier League table next season after successive 17th place finishes. July 1 marks an important day for clubs for a couple of reasons and for Tottenham it is no different.

That's because players' contracts run up until the end of June 30 and that date also marks the end of one period for the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules before the next one begins. That means you will either see various clubs rushing to get sales done before that date or others holding off for July 1 to ensure new arrivals fall into the next period.

Tottenham will immediately gain three new players on Wednesday as Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka will have completed their contracts at Liverpool, Bournemouth and Burnley respectively and their new deals with the north London club kick in to add to the £52million signing of Jan Paul van Hecke, which has already gone through.

There will also be a first team departure as Alejo Veliz will officially leave Spurs to move to Brazilian side Bahia, part of the City Football Group, as that deal could only be concluded once his loan contract at Rosario Central came to a close at the end of June 30. As football.london reported months ago, the deal for the 22-year-old striker will net the Lilywhites £7.7million (9million euros) with 863k (1million euros) in add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause.

Tottenham supporters will also be hoping that a fifth transfer goes through on Wednesday with their record-breaking £85million move for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes. football.london reported on Tuesday that with the fee agreed between the two London clubs for the 21-year-old, after interest from Manchester United was fended off, the Hammers had given permission for Fernandes to undergo his medical with Spurs.

With a full day to finalise that transfer, there's a chance it could be tied up on Wednesday, pending the Portuguese international's international clearance and work permit, if the club want to ensure it is quickly done and dusted to ensure no late hiccups.

That could complete a busy packed July 1 for Tottenham in spectacular fashion with more transfers, both in and out of the club, expected in the weeks and months ahead as De Zerbi looks to build a new and better squad.
