Cristian Romero is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham this summer as Atletico Madrid continue to be linked with the centre-back.

The Argentine did not have his best season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season, despite the Europa League triumph.

Romero was regularly criticised for his Spurs performances as the North London club ended the Premier League season with one of the worst defences in the league.

Nevertheless, Romero has been strongly linked with a move to Atletico this summer, in what would be a new chapter in his career.

However, Thomas Frank will want to have the final say in any potential move.

Thomas Frank wants to keep Romero at Tottenham

Thomas Frank has not had much luck in the transfer window so far at Tottenham.

The Dane is yet to bring in a signing of his own, despite numerous links throughout the summer.

Now, Frank seems determined to keep hold of Romero, according to the latest reports.

Football London (7 July) reports that the Tottenham manager is excited to work with the Argentine this season and wants him in his backline.

This comes amid reports that Atletico Madrid have made a bid for Romero in an attempt to sign the defender.

However, the article goes on to say that Tottenham have not received a new or indeed any bid for Romero.

Daniel Levy must accept Frank’s wishes

If Frank does want Romero to stay at Tottenham this season, then Levy must abide by these wishes.

Improvements on the pitch are not going to happen at Spurs if the Dane’s plans are consistently changed ahead of the season.

Frank will have a clear plan on how to return Tottenham to the top of the Premier League, and Romero is clearly part of this.

Therefore, Levy should do everything in his power to ensure that the Argentine remains a Spurs player this summer.
