Gary Neville has explained why David Moyes will be experiencing mixed emotions after Everton’s loss against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.
Despite losing 3-0, Everton actually have positives to take out of the game as they created a good number of chances.
David Moyes’ side had Tottenham under the cosh at times, it just came down to the lack of a clinical edge in the final third.
Beto and Barry failed to score yet again, which will surely prompt the Toffees to have a look at other strikers ahead of the January transfer window.
With all that said, Neville has an interesting outlook on Everton’s performance yesterday.
Gary Neville reckons David Moyes will be quietly pleased after Tottenham game
Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast, the former Manchester United defender admitted that, although it’s quite mad, Moyes will probably be quite pleased after the Spurs game due to the performance level.
“It’s mad, I mean, football is like that sometimes where David Moyes will, you know, wipe the score line out, which he can never do, unfortunately, because it’s the only thing that matters at the end of a football game,” Neville explained.
“But it’s not, I think David Moyes will look at the team’s performance today and think that we did a lot of very good things. We could have had a goal in the first half, it was disallowed.

“There were a couple of big chances for Beto and some great saves from Vicario. So I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom forever. It’s just obviously disappointing when you get beat 3-0.”
David Moyes must try something different up front
Everton have had a striker dilemma all season, as Beto and Barry have scored just one league goal between them.
Moyes must try something different now, and he does have a lot of options considering his attackers are versatile.
Tyler Dibling and Iliman Ndiaye have both played as a false nine before, and Alan Myers reckons Carlos Alcaraz could even play as a striker.
Merlin Rohl, who looked good when he came on yesterday, could even be used in a more advanced midfield role to help support the striker.
Moyes has plenty to think about ahead of the Sunderland game.
