Tottenham Hotspur will have a chance to win another European trophy in three months and there are some good omens for the North London club ahead of the UEFA Super Cup clash in Italy later this summer.

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans are still basking in the glory of the club’s Europa League win, with Ange Postecoglou and his players creating history in Bilbao by securing the club’s first European trophy in 41 years.

The competition also brings with it the added reward of direct passage into the group stages of the Champions League, and Tottenham’s coffers will be boosted significantly as a result.

However, the reward for the win does not end there as it also offers the Lilywhites a chance to win another prestigious trophy in just a few months: the UEFA Super Cup.

UEFA Super Cup will be played in Tottenham man’s hometown

Tottenham will take on the winners of the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan in the UEFA Super Cup, which is contested by the winners of the Europa League and the Champions League.

This is the first time that Tottenham qualified for the Super Cup in their history, as the winners of the Europa League did not get a place in the final when the Lilywhites won the competition the previous two times.

This time, it has been announced that the final will take place on Wednesday, 13, in Udine, which is Guglielmo Vicario’s hometown.

The Tottenham goalkeeper will be delighted to return to the Stadio Friuli for this huge game, having also made his international debut for Italy in the same stadium in front of his local fans last year.

Record of English clubs in Super Cup bodes well for Tottenham

That is not the only good omen that Tottenham have ahead of the final, as the Lilywhites can also take heart from the impressive record that Premier League clubs have in the showpiece clash.

Tottenham are the eighth English team to qualify for the Super Cup and seven of them have gone on to win the competition, namely Liverpool, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest.

Interestingly, the two Champions League finalists, PSG and Inter, have both played in the Super Cup once before, but neither club managed to win the competition.
