Tottenham’s improving injury situation has taken a fresh hit, with a new concern emerging ahead of their crucial clash with Nottingham Forest.

It all seemed to be looking up for Tottenham Hotspur on the injury front going into their all-important relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest this Sunday.

Igor Tudor had confirmed the availability of Joao Palhinha for the weekend, after he missed the second-leg tie against Atletico Madrid.

Dominic Solanke was not spotted in training, but according to Tudor, he could still feature on Sunday as he is expected to train tomorrow.

Guglielmo Vicario set for surgery in major Tottenham blow

The good news for Tottenham did not stop there, as the Spurs boss offered further positive updates on long-term absentees, stating that Mohammed Kudus will return in the next ten days, while James Maddison could still feature this season. Rodrigo Bentancur is also understood to be making good progress.

However, it has now been revealed that Tottenham have been handed a major injury blow for the remainder of the season.

It has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio that Guglielmo Vicario is set to undergo hernia surgery in the next few days.

Spurs set to turn to Antonin Kinsky for the foreseeable future

This comes as a significant blow for Tottenham as they continue to fight for Premier League survival. The return date for Vicario is unknown, and it is stated that he will need a period of rest following his surgery.

The operation is set to take place on Monday, and it remains to be seen whether the Italian will feature this weekend before going under the knife.

Tudor had stated that Kinsky will still play for Spurs this season following his errors against Atletico Madrid when he was thrown in right in the deep, and that now looks likely with Vicario expected to be out for the rest of the season.

The Italian has, for now, not joined up with his national team, with the international break coming after this weekend.
