“The first meeting was this week,” Kane said last month.
“But these matters aren’t decided in one or two weeks. There will be further talks about details. Talks have been positive. So far, so good.”
He continued: “I’d like to stay long term. We’ll have to see how many years that is.
“I’m 33 years old, so it might not be my last contract but it’s a big contract for me. I need to make sure that I’m happy and the club needs to make sure that they’re happy.
“The good thing is that there’s no panic from either side. I’m sure we’ll reach a point where both sides are happy.”
