Three incredible Harry Kane moments at Tottenham that showed he’s destined to win Ballon d’Or

Former Tottenham man Harry Kane has been shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or award, which takes place on 22 September.

Kane was at Tottenham for over a decade and during that time he cemented himself as one of the club’s greatest ever players. From White Hart Lane to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Kane will always be remembered by the Spurs faithful as he bagged a staggering 280 goals for the club.

The England captain joined German giants Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, Kane has since been linked with a return to Tottenham.

Ahead of the awards ceremony, which takes place on Monday night, let’s take a look at the three most defining moments of Kane’s Spurs career that show the inevitability of him winning the prize.

Harry Kane’s wonder-strike against Arsenal

Kane had his breakout season in the 2014/15 campaign, but it was the following year when he netted arguably the greatest goal of his career.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The iconic goal put Spurs 2-1 at the time, but the Gunners brought it back to 2-2 later on in the game.

Tottenham and Kane may not have won that day, but the strike certainly makes a strong case to be the greatest goal ever scored in the North London Derby.

The evergreen Kane still has these types of goals in his locker and has scored plenty of screamers since leaving the club.

Harry Kane’s astonishing North London Derby stat

Kane loved a goal in the big derby game against Arsenal. So much so that he smashed the record of the most North London Derby goals scored by any player in the Premier League era.

A strike rate of nearly a goal every game. Many of them were decisive, including match-winners and pressure penalties

Kane is built for big games, and has carried that into Germany, where he has already won two trophies and made a sizzling start to the Champions League.

Harry Kane is Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer

In February 2023, Kane made history when he became Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer, surpassing the great Jimmy Greaves in the tally.

Many have suggested that if Kane were to return to England soon, he would still have a good chance at becoming the all-time Premier League goalscorer.

Kane is already closing in on 100 goals for Bayern Munich, and with the German club known for being serial trophy-winners, a Champions League win trophy would make Kane a heavy favourite for the Ballon d’Or next year.
