Tottenham Hotspur are looking for Thomas Frank's replacement after he was sacked on Wednesday morning, and former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has now confirmed that he would take over.

Frank was relieved of his duties this week following a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United. The fans voiced their displeasure multiple times during the game, with boos heard ringing around the stadium at the half-time break and after the match.

Spurs are now just five points above the relegation zone, sitting in 16th place, so it's hardly a surprise that Frank was given the boot.

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed today that Tottenham wanted to give Frank time to turn things around, but after it became apparent that it wasn't going to happen, they ultimately decided to make a change.

Redknapp Speaks Out on Tottenham

Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp has confirmed that he would take the Tottenham job, but he doesn't believe he's going to be a candidate. The former Spurs boss thinks he could do the job to get them back on track, urging the club to ring him.

"Would I fancy it? Of course I would! I'd do it without any shadow of a doubt. But, I'm a realist. I don't live in cuckoo land. It's very doubtful I would get the job.

"Could I do the job? Yes, I could do the job. What they need now is someone to come in and get back to basics. Hard work when you lose the ball. Don't be embarrassed when you lose the ball to run hard to get it back. Work together, bit of confidence. Make them believe in themselves. If someone can do that they will get the results they need.

"They've got my number. If anyone wants to ring me they know where I am. I wouldn't be holding my breath sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring, that's for sure.”

Redknapp, who played 'beautiful football' at Spurs during his time at the club, according to one of his former players Luka Modric, has been out of work for a while now. His last professional managerial job was back in 2017 when he was in charge of Birmingham City, and at the age of 78, he's been taking a back seat in the world of football since then.

Redknapp's Time Has Been and Gone

As mentioned, it's been almost 10 years since Redknapp was in a managerial position, and around 14 years since he was in charge of Tottenham. Football has changed an incredible amount since then, and although Redknapp understandably wants to help his former club, it's certainly debatable whether he would be a good fit.

Spurs might want to bring in an interim manager until the end of the season to give them time to make the right choice, and there might not be a host of people queuing up to take such a role. Redknapp is clearly waiting for the call, but whether it comes or not is another story.
