Tottenham Hotspur have now made the decision to accelerate their move for a new forward to bolster their squad, according to a club insider.
Spurs have completed six deals already this summer, bringing in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali for a combined fee of around £235m, while young defender Luka Vuskovic has been sold to Brighton.
But after bolstering the defence and midfield, while also handing goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky a new deal to cement him as the new number one, the club are now ready to push on and strengthen their attacking options.
Tottenham to Accelerate Savinho Move
According to a club insider, Spurs are now set to accelerate their move to sign Man City star Savinho.
The Brazilian, who has been described as 'incredible' by Pep Guardiola, was a target for the north London club last summer, but was convinced to stay at the Etihad Stadium and signed a new contract instead. However, he struggled for regular first-team football, and with Guardiola departing, an exit is now on the cards.
Tottenham have made him their top target for the winger positions once more, and with the player already agreeing to the switch, they are now set to step up their interest.
City are understood to be looking for around £60m to let the 22-year-old leave, but Spurs are hoping to get that price down with negotiations. However, he is now their number one target, and they want to get a deal done quickly.
Enzo Maresca will not stand in the way of an exit, but Savinho will not be pushed out of the door, and it's on Spurs to find an agreement with the player under contract in the north west until June 2031.
Savinho Can Add Quality to Spurs Attack
While Savinho had a lack of regular first-team football at City, that shouldn't be an indicator of how good he is, when you consider the players he was competing for minutes against.
At Spurs, Savinho would likely come into the squad as the first-choice option on the right-wing, with his wonderful left foot providing a goal threat, while his excellent dribbling and speed mean he can unlock defences in an instant.
A deal is there to be done, and the Tottenham board have shown they are not afraid to spalsh the cash this summer, so this is one to keep a close eye on in the coming weeks.
