Forget the goals and assists - Heung-Min Son now has the statistic he's been dreaming of - he's one of 13 captains in the club's long history to lift a major trophy.

It all started back in 1901 when Jack L Jones collected the FA Cup from FA President Lord Kinnaird after our 3-1 replay win against Sheffield United at Bolton's Burnden Park, after the initial final ended in a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace. That day we made history - the first non-league team to win the FA Cup - a record that stands to this day.

Sonny joined the all-time greats when he lifted the famous UEFA Europa League trophy in Bilbao after our 1-0 win against Manchester United on 21 May - Arther Grimsdell (1921 FA Cup), Ron Burgess (1950/51 title), Danny Blanchflower (1960/61 title, 1961, 1962 FA Cup, 1963 ECWC), Dave Mackay (1967 FA Cup), Alan Mullery (1971 League Cup, 1972 UEFA Cup), Martin Peters (1973 League Cup), Steve Perryman (1981, 1982 FA Cup), Graham Roberts (1984 UEFA Cup), Gary Mabbutt (1991 FA Cup), Sol Campbell (1999 League Cup) and Ledley King (2008 League Cup).

'We won it in Bilbao...'

Sonny is up to 198 goal involvements in the Premier League - just two away from becoming only the 13th player to reach 200 in Premier League history (the PL started in 1992/93).

Trademark Sonny vs West Ham

Sonny ended 2024/25 with nine Premier League assists - just one away from his best of 10 achieved in three seasons - 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2023/24. Sonny's second assist in our 5-0 win at Southampton in December took him past Darren Anderton to become our all-time top assist maker in the Premier League with 68. He's now on 71.

Sonny's record-breaking 68 assists

Sonny is now up to 454 appearances for us in all competitions - overtaking former team-mates Harry Kane (435) and Hugo Lloris (447) plus Jimmy Dimmock (438), Alan Gilzean (439) and Ted Ditchburn (452) as he made another 46 appearances in all competitions last season. He's only the seventh player to reach 450+ in all competitions since we first joined the Football League in 1908. That list, of course, is topped by legendary former skipper Steve Perryman on 854. Meanwhile, Sonny is up to second all-time appearances in the Premier League (333) and third in Europe (71).

Sonny is closing in on all-time great Martin Chivers on our all-time goalscoring list. Martin, who spearheaded us to two League Cup wins and a UEFA Cup triumph in the early 1070s - he scored in the 1971 League Cup Final and 1972 UEFA Cup Final - scored 174 goals for us in 367 appearances. Sonny is now up to 173 goals in 454 appearances. Sonny is already second in both our Premier League (127) and European (27) lists.
