Luka Vuskovic has reflected on his decision to sign for Tottenham Hotspur two years ago as a 16-year-old, and the centre-back cannot wait to finally get to North London and meet his new teammates.

The young centre-back joined the Lilywhites two years ago in a £12m deal from Hajduk Split. However, the Brexit regulations have meant that Spurs have been forced to loan him out over the last two seasons.

The Croat came on leaps and bounds during his loan spell at Westerlo last campaign, with reports indicating that Tottenham have been very impressed with Vuskovic’s development.

As a reward for his performances in Belgium, Vuskovic was handed his first senior cap for Croatia in their 5-1 World Cup qualification win over the Czech Republic earlier this month.

Luka Vuskovic cannot wait to play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Now that he has turned 18, the central defender will finally link up with the Spurs first-team squad, nearly two years after signing for the club.

Vuskovic admits that he cannot wait to head to the Premier League side, referring to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Hotspur Way training ground as a “different world” from where he grew up.

When asked about leaving his boyhood club to sign for Spurs back in 2023, the youngster told Hajduk TV (as relayed by 24 Sata): “It was sad because I had to leave. I wanted to go for other reasons, but still, it was tough because of my friends. I knew I’d be making a historic transfer. I’m glad I went — I’m often in contact with the club. It becomes official on July 1st.

“I’ve already had two loan spells, but that’s the path of a footballer. Tottenham is amazing! The stadium is unreal, everything is state-of-the-art, the training centre has like a hundred pitches. It’s a completely different world. I haven’t trained with the first team yet, but soon I’ll meet all the players.”

Thomas Frank wants to take a closer look at Luka Vuskovic

Reports over recent weeks have claimed that Bundesliga clubs are showing interest in landing Vuskovic on loan from Tottenham this summer, but the North London club are yet to decide on the teenager’s next step.

A few days ago, The Mirror claimed that Frank wants to give Vuskovic an opportunity to impress during pre-season before deciding on his future.

The outlet claimed that Tottenham are not ruling out the young defender being part of their first-team plans for next season.
