After Kota Takai’s arrival at Tottenham Hotspur, we at Hoddle Headquarters bade farewell to our daily Micky van de Ven picture with the promise that a new hoddle hero would be soon chosen.

Well, due to a slew of activity in recent days, we are temporarily suspending the hoddle hero anouncement until we find ourselves in common waters once more. And that isn’t to say this is a bad thing. In fact - it’s a good thing.

How could the hoddle have possibly been prepared for the sudden developments with Mohammed Kudus, who joined on Thursday? Plus, there’s been so much going on that last week ended at a dizzying pace.

Let’s just take a quick look at what transpired last week:

Tuesday, 8 July: Tottenham announce Kota Takai

Thursday, 10 July: Tottenham announce Mohammed Kudus

Friday, 11 July: Reports that Spurs set to announce Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his release clause. An angry Nottingham Forest reportedly seek to delay the transfer

That same day: Reports emerge of potential investment in the football club.

That’s a lot for one week, especially if you’re Spurs in July.

So we’re giving the hoddle hero one week to recover to see how things shake out this week.
