Tottenham Hotspur are raking in additional prize money thanks to the new Champions League format, but their earnings are still modest compared with some teams.
Tottenham Hotspur are having another poor season in the Premier League, suffering the same number of victories and defeats after 16 matches.
However, the Champions League has been a more positive experience and has seen Spurs achieve 4-0 and 3-0 home wins over Copenhagen and Slavia Prague, respectively.
Tottenham’s form on the road in the competition is far less impressive, but they are still 11th in the league phase in spite of this, just one point off the coveted top eight.
Spurs have earned much less than Arsenal in the Champions League
With six matches played, Tottenham have already received £16.9m in prize money from the Champions League, which is slightly more than Newcastle and Chelsea.
Despite this, Manchester City have earned significantly more, despite winning just two more points in the competition. Pep Guardiola’s side have taken £31.2m from the prize pot and possess a higher value pillar than any other Premier League club.

If Thomas Frank’s side had managed to defeat Bodo/Glimt on matchday two, they would have taken a much larger chunk of the prize pot, which is important as January approaches.
Spurs must travel to Frankfurt on the final night of the league phase, and it is important that they finally record an away victory in order to boost their earnings.
