Over the last two days, we have heard many contradictory updates regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, and a new report has now shed light on how the Lilywhites rate their own chances of winning the race for the Brentford forward.

`Spurs fans understandably got excited when it emerged two days ago that Tottenham are willing to outbid Man United for Mbeumo.

In fact, it has even been alleged that Spurs have made a £70m offer for Mbeumo, which is considerably more than what the Red Devils have offered for the 25-year-old.

However, that does not mean that Tottenham are the front-runners to sign the Cameroon international, with Football Insider reporting recently that Man United are still in the driving seat to land Mbeumo.

What the belief at Tottenham is about Bryan Mbeumo deal

However, Miguel Delaney has now said in his newsletter for The Independent, that the feeling at Hotspur Way about the deal is positive, especially after the development of recent days.

He says that following the confirmation of Thomas Frank as their head coach, Tottenham now believe they have a ‘good chance’ of winning the race for the Bees forward.

Delaney wrote: “Manchester United have been looking at Emiliano Martinez, but they would only move for a goalkeeper once a lot of other positions have been sorted first. The club do feel in a better direction, as there looks set to be considerable movement in sales.

“They have just found more competition for main targets. Tottenham’s hiring of Thomas Frank now means they feel they have a good chance of Bryan Mbeumo, given the Brentford connection.”

Thomas Frank is trying to change Mbeumo’s mind

Reports continue to insist that Mbeumo’s preferred destination is Man United rather than Tottenham, even though the Lilywhites are willing to offer a bigger fee to Brentford.

It appears that the key to Spurs’ pursuit is their new head coach, with Florian Plettenberg reporting yesterday that Frank is trying to convince Mbeumo to follow him to Tottenham.
