New interim Tottenham Hotspur head coach Igor Tudor has sent a clear message to the Spurs supporters ahead of the club's huge North London Derby with Arsenal at the weekend - he is putting a team out to cause a stir.

Tudor replaced the sacked Thomas Frank at the helm at the end of last week, signing a deal until the end of the season, with Spurs likely to appoint a different permanent head coach in the summer.

Tudor's role at Tottenham is clear - to get the team out of trouble at the bottom of the Premier League table, avoid relegation and see how far he can get them in the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham Start Could Not Get Much Harder For Igor Tudor

The Croatian took his first training session with his new charges on Monday, with another session to follow on Tuesday and gave his first interview to the club's official channels too.

His start to life in N17 could not get much harder, with his first fixture in charge the North London Derby with Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Arsenal are the Premier League leaders and Spurs supporters would love nothing more than to see their side upset their fierce rivals in their quest for a first title since 2004.

Thomas Frank Upset The Tottenham Players

One of the big criticisms of Frank that came out following his sacking was that he kept mentioning Arsenal and how good they were - something that reportedly irritated the players.

Frank's pragmatic approach will be replaced by a more attacking brand of football under Tudor it seems, if his first interview is anything to go by.

Speaking about the weekend's derby clash, Tudor said: "Big week, important game, we know this derby is a fantastic game to play. We want to play this game in a way that our fans will like, giving everything we have in the right way, brave, but in the same way be intelligent, smart to achieve what we want and that's the victory."

Igor Tudor Expects His Team To Run More Than The Opposition

The word brave will impress the Spurs supporters who crave seeing their team on the front foot and taking the game to their opponents.

But not only that, Tudor is expecting his players to be more physical and put in the hard yards, not only in training, but on the pitch too.

He added: "I believe football in 2026 has changed a lot, it's more physical. If you can run 115km as a team, it's better than 105. It's always about motivating players to understand this about running, the physical aspect of football, but that without quality is nothing. So technical skills, intelligence to recognise the situations on the pitch is everything, you need to find a mix of both things."
