Rangers won 3-0 away at Dundee last time out before the international break. Nicolas Raskin, Mikey Moore and Djeidi Gassama got their goals at Dens Park as they secured a useful three points. The Glasgow giants are back in action next weekend with a home clash against Livingston as they look to build some momentum.

Danny Rohl was picked as their replacement for Russell Martin, who was sacked after his poor start to the season. The German caught the eye down in England during his time at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship. The Gers are sat in 4th in the Scottish Premiership table behind Hearts, Celtic and Hibernian.

Rangers update regarding Nicolas Raskin

Rangers managed to keep hold of Raskin in the summer transfer window. Their resolve may well be tested again in January. He is under contract at Ibrox until June 2027 meaning they are under no immediate pressure to sell him this winter specifically and they can wait for the right money.

In this latest update regarding his situation in Scotland, his father Thierry has said, as per a report by DHnet: “During a season that will end with a World Cup, this requires serious consideration. But the initial idea is not to leave, especially with a new coach [Rohl], who wants to rebuild something beautiful."

He added: "He knows what is expected of him in the national team and he likes showing what he’s worth. I feel he’s thriving when he’s with the national team.”

Raskin, 24, has made seven caps for the Belgium national team so far in his career. He started out with spells at Anderlecht, Gent and Standard Liege in his native country. The Liege-born man broke into the first-team of the latter in 2019 and went on to make 95 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with five goals.

What now for Nicolas Raskin at Rangers?

Rangers’ hopes of retaining the services of Raskin have been handed a boost by his dad’s comments. It appears the player wants to stay under Rohl for the time being which is a good news. He joined his current club back in January 2023 and he has since played 116 matches, finding the net on eight occasions, and he has established himself a key player.

According to TEAMtalk, he is a ‘target’ for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. Spurs may now have to wait until next summer before they pursue a deal though now. They turned to Thomas Frank as their head coach after sacking former Celtic man Ange Postecoglou and are positioned in 5th in the league.

After signing for Rangers, Raskin said at the time: “I feel very excited to be here and I also feel very proud to join a very big club. I’m looking forward to playing at Ibrox. It was very exciting when I was told of Rangers’ interest because it’s a big club. I’m looking forward to making my debut and I hope it can be as soon as possible.”
