Tottenham may be in the midst of a relegation battle, but that hasn't stopped the recruitment team from looking towards the future with the summer transfer window around the corner.

If Premier League survival is secured, Spurs will be keen to prevent a season like this from happening ever again, and that starts with the players they sign to put out on the pitch.

Several positions need addressing, especially for those who have a good fitness record and can regularly put in big performances for the side.

Now, according to reports, it appears as though a missed transfer target from last year could be back on Tottenham's radar once again.

Tottenham interest in Morgan Gibbs-White

As per a report from TeamTalk, Tottenham are among several teams showing "continued interest" in Morgan Gibbs-White, one year on from him rejecting a move to North London in favour of a stay at Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United are also credited with long-term admiration for the 26-year-old, but it appears as though another stay at the City Ground is on the cards.

In rejecting Spurs last summer, Gibbs-White signed a fresh contract until 2028, which removed a release clause option, with the club believed to be relaxed over his future prospects.

It means there could be yet another challenge in trying to tempt the playmaker away, following another impressive campaign with Nottingham Forest.

"He's in terrific form and everyone knows what a player he is," Gibbs-White's teammate Ola Aina told TNT Sports last month.

"There are certain games we just look to him to get us out of situations or even keep us in good situations. He's having a terrific end to the season, and hopefully, he can keep that going."

It remains to be seen whether the fact the playmaker is entering the final two years of his deal could change things, or whether Tottenham are prepared to meet what is likely to be a huge asking price.

Rivals could ruin Tottenham transfer plan

Nottingham Forest's determination to keep Gibbs-White again this summer could hinge on the future of Elliot Anderson in the transfer window.

The East Midlands club are unlikely to lose more than one key player in the market, with the latter appearing keen on a move elsewhere when the summer rolls around.

Manchester United and Manchester City have been most heavily linked with the England international, with a deal upwards of £100 million expected to be sanctioned.

With that in mind, Nottingham Forest won't want to lose a player as crucial as Gibbs-White along with Anderson, making any exit unlikely to be sanctioned.
