Mo Kudus told us he has ‘a lot to improve on, a lot more to show’ after providing the ammunition for two wonderful goals from Richarlison on a Premier League debut to remember against Burnley on Saturday.

That will be music to fans’ ears after the Ghana international thrilled us with his wing play, his crosses dispatched by Richy after 10 and 60 minutes to provide the platform for three points. Brennan Johnson completed the job on 66 minutes in a 3-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“The reception from the fans has been incredible,” he said after his first appearance in Lilywhite in N17. “I really get the boost and the encouragement, even though it's part of my DNA to be in positions like this, but also with the help of the team, because they need to get the ball and get me higher up in those positions.

“But yeah, definitely, the energy from the fans also gave me a boost, even though that's what I love to do, take players on and then try to create and help the team win. I'm glad that Richarlison was able to finish them off today with two beautiful goals. I’m really with the whole team, the three points and the clean sheet.

“I wouldn’t say I was nervous. I think the intrinsic motivation is already inside me to always deliver and do well. That's what I feel before a game, you definitely feel something in your belly, I really want to perform and do my best, but with the help of the team, like I said, they really helped me settle in quite well, but I still have a lot to improve on and a lot more to show. It's just the beginning. It’s a long, long marathon to go.”

Asked how he’d settled into life at Spurs, Mo added: “We’ve been all around the place for the pre-season, a lot of travel, so this has been the first couple of weeks that I'm really here. My first game in the stadium was massive, a massive feeling, and I'm really, really happy about that.

“The effort from everyone for the past weeks in pre-season, the travelling, putting in the effort day in, day out, big credit to the whole team. I'm really glad to be in an environment like this with a high level of work and competitiveness to challenge for every trophy.”
