Tottenham Hotspur have held talks over a potential January move for England striker Ivan Toney, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed.

The North London side are looking to bolster Thomas Frank’s attacking options at the turn of the year and could reunite the Dane with his former Brentford striker.

Toney, who is now in his second season at Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, is understood to be open to a return to England to boost his chances of securing a spot in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, although his prospects appear slim at the moment.

Thomas Tuchel was reportedly not impressed by the £400,000 per week striker when he called up Toney to the squad in June, and the player's camp are not anticipating that the situation could easily change, even if he moves back to England in January.

Tottenham Eyeing Move for Ivan Toney

According to Bailey, Frank would be open to a reunion with Toney in January as he is keen on bolstering his attacking options further next month.

Spurs welcomed the likes of Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani during the summer transfer window, but the three forwards have scored just three Premier League goals between them since.

With Dominic Solanke still recovering from a long-term ankle injury and Richarlison leading the goalscoring charts with six efforts in 15 appearances, it has become evident that Spurs need a proper out-and-out attacker to boost their underperforming line-up.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Toney has netted 36 goals in 85 Premier League appearances.

A move for Toney would be a step in that direction, given the 'world-class' striker’s outstanding numbers for Al-Ahli.

Last season, the England international netted 30 times and provided six assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. He already has 12 goals in 18 appearances this term.

Tottenham Eyeing Yan Diomande

Tottenham appear to have several attackers on their shortlist ahead of the January window, with RB Leipzig rising star Yan Diomande also among the options.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old is being followed by several clubs amid his breakout season in Germany.

Diomande, who only joined Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes in July, has seven goals and four assists in 15 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
