Everton are going to face competition from their Premier League rivals in the final weeks of this summer’s transfer window.
A lot of work is still needed at Everton to get the squad up to scratch for the 2025/26 curtain raiser against Leeds United.
David Moyes will be hoping to see some attacking players walk through the doors at Finch Farm over the coming weeks.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is set to complete his move to Everton, but there will now be a real emphasis on adding some goals to the squad.
The Summer Series in the United States only highlighted Moyes’ concerns with just two goals scored in three games by Everton players.
To combat this, Everton are stepping up their interest in Jack Grealish after hitting a major roadblock with Tyler Dibling.
Everton are not the only side in the race to sign the 29-year-old on loan this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in Grealish, with the Lilywhites expected to make a push at some point this window.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
According to journalist Ben Knapton, Spurs have now made first contact with Grealish over a potential move this summer.
This comes on the back of James Maddison picking up a suspected season-ending injury during pre-season in South Korea.
Tottenham are now also in desperate need of some creative players to add to their team, and they could be looking to beat Everton to the former England international.
And the report claims Spurs have now taken the lead in the race.
Grealish’s future was expected to go down to the wire, but developments at both Everton and Spurs over recent days may have just changed that.
Pep Guardiola no longer has the forward in his plans, but the 29-year-old is looking to map out the best possible move for himself this summer.
What Everton can offer Grealish that Tottenham can’t
Ultimately, Spurs are able to offer Grealish with Champions League, which Everton will not be able to compete with.
However, Everton do have plenty to offer Grealish.
It is believed that Grealish is happy living in the north west, which is something he would not have to change if he joined Everton.
The 29-year-old would be able to remain in his current address and travel to Merseyside from the Manchester area.
And it is also believed that Jordan Pickford could help convince Grealish to join Everton.
Of course, Spurs will likely appeal given their European offering, but do not count Everton out of this race.
