Tottenham Hotspur players have been congratulating Callum Olusesi on making his Premier League debut, including James Maddison.

Olusesi came off the bench in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday and managed 14 minutes on his first Premier League appearance.

The 19-year-old has been in and around the Spurs squad for quite some time now and was finally given his chance against Liverpool.

The midfielder is clearly a very popular figure at Spurs, with many players applauding his performance in the draw at Anfield.

James Maddison says Callum Olusesi deserved his Premier League debut

James Maddison has led the tributes for Callum Olusesi following his Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur.

Igor Tudor was forced into using the club’s academy at Anfield, with the Spurs squad being reduced to the bare bones.

The North London club named just seven substitutes, including two goalkeepers and three academy players.

However, Tudor’s trust in the youth paid off, with Olusesi impressing against Liverpool, and Spurs players have been hailing the teenager.

Maddison, Pedro Porro, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie, Mathys Tel, and Xavi Simons were among the players who congratulated him on Instagram.

In the comments section, Maddison wrote: “Deserved, mate”. Meanwhile, fellow academy graduate Jun’ai Byfield said: “My brother, well deserved!”

There was also praise from Danso, who wrote: “Many more to come!” and Mikey Moore, who had played with Olusesi for many years, said: “My brother!”

Callum Olusesi desreves more minutes for Tottenham

Olusesi produced a very good performance against Liverpool, proving that he is more than capable of playing at that level.

The 19-year-old now deserves the chance to play more minutes in the remainder of the season, as Spurs battle for survival.

Meanwhile, the teenager claimed that everyone at the North London club must stick together right now to get out of the relegation battle.

“It’s a dream come true, there’s been a couple of games where I’ve been on the bench, loads actually, but to get on the pitch – it’s a great feeling,” Olusesi told SpursOfficial.

“Yeah, it’s good we need all the points we can get right now. Obviously, we’re not in the best situation, but if we all work hard and stick together, we’ll be able to get out of it.”
