James Tarkowski has just seemingly come out and had a go at Beto without naming the Everton star

Beto is enduring a really poor season and Everton defender James Tarkowski appears to have come out and criticised him.

Everton lost their first-ever game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as Tottenham Hotspur won 3-0.

It was yet another game in which Beto failed to take his chances, which is becoming a serious problem for David Moyes’ side.

With that said, the £30m frontman seems to have copped some criticism from his Everton teammate James Tarkowski, who voiced his frustrations at the number of wasted chances against Spurs.

James Tarkowski clearly frustrated with Beto after Tottenham defeat

Speaking to Everton’s website after the Tottenham defeat, Tarkowski was evidently so frustrated with Beto after he missed another couple of chances.

“We had some good play,” the Toffees defender said. “I thought we set up, we made a lot of chances, we got to the edge of their box quite a lot and created.

“But we haven’t scored, and we can’t win without scoring in a game, so that’s something we really need to look at.

“We need to start scoring. We’re getting in good positions. We’ve got quality players up in our final third and we’re going to keep creating chances.

“Now it’s time to start taking them because, as I said, if you’re not going to score goals, you’re not going to win.”

After the Manchester City defeat, Tarkowski did praise Beto for his hard work and is certain the goals will come, as his movement has been excellent.

Moyes has explored signing another striker in January, so it does feel as though the towering frontman has a couple more months to prove himself before potentially being replaced.

Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a move to Everton.

James Tarkowski also frustrated with Everton’s defending from set-pieces

It was quite unlike Everton to concede two goals from corner kicks on Sunday, so Tarkowski was frustrated that the game was ultimately decided by something Everton work so vigorously on.

“We put a lot of focus on it. I think all teams do. They’re winning teams games, and we want to be scoring more from them,” the 32-year-old added.

“That’s the first time we’ve actually conceded a set piece this season, so we have been doing quite well.

“To concede two in the first half of every game when we’ve probably controlled the game for most of it is very disappointing.

“It’s not just the back line, it’s the whole team. The whole team’s in the box to defend set pieces.”

Everton have Monday’s game against Sunderland to put it right, although they’ll probably go into it as the underdogs.

Moyes could make some big changes to his starting line-up, with Thierno Barry in for Beto as one notable switch.
