A new report has revealed James Trafford’s stance on swapping Manchester City for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

It has been widely reported over the last few months that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Trafford this summer, but the North Londoners have not been billed as the favourites to land the Man City star.

It was claimed by Football Insider last month that Trafford would prefer to join Aston Villa over Tottenham after Unai Emery’s man signalled their interest.

Meanwhile, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed last week that Newcastle United may also be well placed to beat Spurs to the 23-year-old, with the Magpies chasing the goalkeeper since last summer.

James Trafford’s transfer priority revealed as Tottenham step up race

TEAMtalk have now revealed that the view at Spurs is that Trafford is the ‘ideal candidate’ to replace Guglielmo Vicario as their number one this summer.

The outlet claims that Tottenham are now ‘pushing’ to land the Englishman this summer as they prepare for a busy transfer window ahead of Roberto De Zerbi’s first full season in charge.

It has been revealed that Man City are open to selling the goalkeeper, just a year after signing him from Burnley for £27m.

Meanwhile, it is asserted that the player is keen to move in search of regular football after spending the season as Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy.

Trafford may even join Spurs if they get relegated

TEAMtalk say that the England international has made it clear that he wants to be the undisputed first choice at his next club, and Tottenham are ready to offer him that platform.

In fact, it is asserted that Trafford would consider becoming the Spurs number one even if they find themselves in the Championship next term. Of course, it would likely depend on what other offers he receives.
