Jamie O’Hara: 3 Reasons Thomas Frank is Failing at Tottenham

Jamie O'Hara thinks there are three glaring issues at Tottenham Hotspur following a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham, which has piled more pressure on Thomas Frank.

Spurs were their own worst enemies on the night when poor defending allowed the visitors to take the lead through Kenny Tete in the fourth minute. It was a horror show that went from bad to worse two minutes later when Harry Wilson pounced on a Guglielmo Vicario howler.

Frank looked perplexed on the touchline and heading into half-time with his side second best in front of their own fans, who booed Vicario every time he touched the ball after his mistake. There were signs of life when Mohammed Kudus struck in the 59th minute, but the Lilywhites were handed their fourth home defeat of the campaign.

Tottenham 1-2 Fulham: O'Hara on Spurs' Three 'Big Problems'

O'Hara is starting to believe Frank is out of his depth, and the former Spurs midfielder delved into other problem areas for the club. He wrote on X:

"I’m starting to think the job is too big for Thomas Frank, but our recruitment has been so bad, these players just ain’t good enough, most of them are way off it, big problems."

Spurs headed into the season having won the UEFA Europa League under Frank's predecessor, Ange Postecoglou. The Australian coach was dismissed after his team finished 17th in the Premier League, with the European triumph not enough to save him.

Frank was expected to build an exciting counter-attacking team after replacing Postecoglou and try to replicate the work achieved during his time at Brentford. But a worrying start to his reign has many questioning if he's the right man for the job.

Spurs' Crisis Time - Who's To Blame?

Frank earned major plaudits while at Brentford, guiding them to the Premier League and establishing the Bees as a solid mid-table club. He was in demand when Spurs came calling after a 10th-place finish with a team that had just lost top scorer Ivan Toney.

The Lilywhites have undergone a rebuild with Frank at the helm, spending over £150m on new signings, including Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The Dutch attacker was highly sought-after, but the North Londoners won the race to sign the 22-year-old in a £55m deal.

Simons, whom O'Hara previously criticised, has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, as has Randal Kolo Muani, who arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Mohammed Kudus also joined from West Ham United, and the Ghanaian attacker has made an impact, which points out errors in transfer planning, as sticking with players with English football experience should have been a priority.

The attacking trio joined a Spurs side in dire need of a refresh, with question marks over the squad at Postecoglou's disposal last season. While the Europa League was one of the club's best moments, it papered over the cracks, with a group of players unable to compete with the elite.
