Simon Jordan could not resist a swipe at Alexander Isak’s antics as a Newcastle United player following his Liverpool leg break.

While yet to be officially confirmed by the club, it is being widely reported that the Swede suffered a fracture against Tottenham Hotspur. Isak broke the deadlock in North London on Saturday - but at a cost.

A reckless Micky van de Ven lunge caught the striker and he immediately hit the deck in agony. Several members of the Liverpool backroom staff helped Isak hobble off the Tottenham Hotspur turf.

Alexander Isak leg break

The Athletic reported last night that Liverpool fear Isak has endured a suspected leg break. News had emerged early yesterday morning that the Reds expected Isak to spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Those fears have been realised, with Isak’s latest setback set to rule him out for several months - including Newcastle’s trip to Anfield on January 31. Toon fans will likely have to wait until next season to give the 26-year-old his anticipated hostile reception.

Simon Jordan makes controversial comment

Unable to help himself from adding salt on to Isak’s wounds, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan suggested “karma” was at play. The striker infamously burned all of his bridges at St James' Park by refusing to play or train for Newcastle to force through a Liverpool move.

“I’m desperately trying to avoid myself disappearing into the ghost of Jacob Marley, and looking at the karma of Alexander Isak’s position in terms of not landing at Liverpool and achieving very much,” Jordan told talkSPORT. “He now potentially finds himself out for the season. I’m desperately trying to avoid that version of myself.

“I don’t want anyone breaking their legs, but I also look at the dynamics of how people behave and think, sometimes, that what goes around comes around. That’s mean-spirited, I know. So then you move onto the situation surrounding Liverpool.

“They're not exactly devoid of a decent squad. The Isak transaction is always what they were prepared to spend. It’s not £125million down the drain because it will come again. It’s just an unfortunate set of circumstances where they have Mohamed Salah thinking he can say whatever he wants, you’ve got Cody Gakpo who hasn’t been in the best form and (Hugo) Ekitikke who probably thought he should be the man anyways.”
