The Czech goalkeeper admirably stepped up to play a crucial role in our Premier League run-in with some standout performances across his seven appearances to help maintain our top-flight status last term.
A month on from a difficult night at Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League last 16, the 23-year-old shot stopper was called upon to replace the injured Guglielmo Vicario for our league trip to Sunderland in Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge and never looked back.
Showing his strength of character to bounce back and talent between the sticks, Toni went on to play every minute under our Head Coach and produced big saves at key moments against Wolves, Leeds and Everton in particular.
"Of course, this signing for me is another step to put me closer to that position, especially the end of the season that we had," he said, speaking exclusively on SPURSPLAY. "It makes me really happy and I feel the trust as well from the Club.
"It made me happy because I came to Tottenham one year and a half ago and my expectations were definitely to fight for the spot in the club, to have a chance to play the games in this shirt.
"When I look back, it's a nice story already and I'm looking forward to the next moments and experiences."
Signed from his hometown club, Slavia Prague, in January, 2025, the Czech Under-21 international kept an impressive clean sheet on debut in a 1-0 win against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup just days after his arrival and made his maiden Premier League appearance in the intensity of the north London derby.
Comfortable in possession and showcasing an impressive passing range off either foot, he played 10 games in all competitions during the second half of the 2024/25 season and added another 10 to his tally across the board last term.
Yet to be capped by Czech Republic at senior level, the young stopper believes he has improved a lot in his all-round game since his move to north London due to a 'big contribution' from the goalkeeping coaches at Hotspur Way.
With new signing Martin Dubravka, 37, adding vast experience to the goalkeeper department as one of four arrivals already this summer, Toni is now heading into the upcoming season excited and hungry to fight for his place and contribute on the pitch once again.
"For sure, I feel I'm a better keeper," he said. "I'm not the one to judge - that's for the fans and the coaches - and, at the same time, I know it's a big contribution of the coaches that were involved and that helped me so much.
"The team is so strong, the team is good. There is a huge opportunity to be successful this season and definitely I want to take part in that. I want to contribute and I hope we will give the fans what they are waiting for and what we want.
"There is a lot to come in the next season, which makes me really excited, which makes me hungry and motivated to come prepared because there will be a lot going on in the preseason."
