Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in recent weeks.
The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the finest young prospects in the Premier League right now, and Tottenham are keen on him. However, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the midfielder could end up staying at Manchester United.
Kobbie Mainoo is unlikely to move
He has revealed that the noises coming out of the player’s camp suggest that he is focused on Manchester United right now, and there have been no contacts with any club regarding a potential move.
While Robinson has mentioned the interest of the North London club, he claims that Tottenham are yet to act on their interest in the player.
He said on Football Insider: “The words coming out from the Kobbie Mainoo camp are that all focus is on Man United.
“So I wouldn’t be surprised if he was there for another season.
“There’s no word of a new contract coming out for him, there’s been no word that he’s in talks for a new deal, and there’s no word that he’s in talks over a move.
“There’s been muted interest from Tottenham, another club that have been linked with him.
“He’s a top-quality young player, but at the moment all is extremely quiet.”
Spurs could use Mainoo
Mainoo is an elite prospect with a bright future, and he could be an excellent acquisition for Tottenham if they can get the deal done. They need more control and composure in the middle of the park, and the 20-year-old will help them dominate midfield contests.
Tottenham are looking to put together a formidable team for the future, and signing one of the best young talents in English football would be ideal for them. Meanwhile, Manchester United cannot afford to lose promising young players like him if they want to fight for trophies in the near future.
