Bryan Gil is expected to be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur and the winger has made up his mind on who he wants to join, but Spurs may not be getting a transfer fee for the winger.

While rumours continue to swirl regarding potential signings that Tottenham can make on deadline day, the next few hours are also important for Spurs in moving some players out of the door.

Over recent weeks, we know that Spurs have been working hard to find Bryan Gil a new club, but their efforts have not yielded the necessary results.

Fabio Paratici’s attempts to sell Gil to Bologna have failed, and it has now emerged that the Spain international is set to return to familiar surroundings.

Girona stepping up efforts to land Bryan Gil on a free transfer

The 24-year-old impressed on loan for Girona last term, before his season was cut short by injury. The Spanish club subsequently chose against activating their €15m (£12.5m) option to buy Gil.

According to journalist Nil Sola, the La Liga side are now set to land the former Sevilla man on a free transfer on deadline day.

He says that Girona are moving forward on a deal for Gil and are intent on finalising the signing of the winger on a free transfer.

Sola asserts that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to terminate the year left in the player’s contract, alleging that the attacker only wants to return to Estadi Montilivi.

Not getting a transfer fee for Gil is a blow for Tottenham

Earlier this summer, it was reported that Tottenham want just under £10m to sell Gil, and that is more than a fair price for a player who has impressed in his loan spells and played for Spain just last season.

However, the winger’s injury complicated Spurs’ efforts to find a buyer this summer, and despite their best efforts, it now appears that he will leave on a free transfer.
