• Ledley King helped deliver a community football session in Sydney alongside our local supporters’ club, OzSpurs
• The session was organised in partnership with social enterprise Creating Chances’ Football United programme, which has been previously supported by OzSpurs through fundraising activities
• Representatives from our tour opponents Sydney FC were also in attendance, with the session underlining the value of teamwork and leadership
• Youth participants from the session will visit Spurs House – the stylish central Sydney venue we will be taking over during our time in Australia – with a bespoke mural designed by Sydney-based artists Eze and Migs donated to raise money for Creating Chances
The session was organised in partnership with Creating Chances through its Football United programme, a long-running initiative that uses football as a tool to strengthen social cohesion, belonging and leadership among young people from culturally diverse communities. Working with schools and community partners across Western Sydney, the programme creates safe and inclusive environments where participants build confidence, develop life skills and form meaningful connections through sport.
In attendance were representatives from the Foundation of our tour opponents Sydney FC, who joined Ledley and President of Oz Spurs Sean Bielski in discussing the importance of teamwork and leadership with the group. Oz Spurs have a close connection to Football United, having fundraised for the programme in the past.
Ledley King said: “We are a Club that takes immense pride in our own local community, and so it was fantastic to get involved in the session today alongside some of our Sydney-based supporters. Learning more about the incredible work Football United does to support young people across Sydney, as well as seeing the impact of OzSpurs’ long-standing support for the programme, reinforced how important it is to invest in our communities and inspire the next generation.”
