Daniel Levy will make sure to get the best possible value with Sheffield United ready to sign a Tottenham player.

It has been a slow start to the summer for Tottenham on the transfer front, and many supporters will no doubt be growing frustrated with Levy.

A host of big names have been linked with moves to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, including Eberechi Eze, but Spurs don’t seem any closer to adding new players to Thomas Frank’s squad.

And there has now been news of a potential exit in North London, and Spurs fans have had their say.

Sheffield United are ready to sign Ashley Phillips

Frank is expected to use pre-season at Tottenham to take a look at some of Spurs’ younger players.

According to the print edition of The Sun on Sunday (29 June, pg. 57), Ashley Phillips is someone Frank is keen to take a better look at.

However, should Tottenham U-turn on the centre back, Sheffield United are waiting to pounce on a deal. The Blades are prepared to pay £6million for Phillips, but have been rebuffed by Spurs at the moment.

The centre-back enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell with Stoke City and ended his tenure as a regular starter for the Championship club.

Therefore, it is only logical that he would want to continue playing regularly, and he might see Sheffield United as a viable option.

However, if Tottenham do sanction a sale, supporters are keen for a buy-back clause to be included in any agreement this summer.

Tottenham may not have space for Phillips

There is no doubt that Phillips is talented. However, the centre back position is where Tottenham currently have the most depth.

There could be a place for Phillips if Cristian Romero leaves this summer, but if the Argentine stays, the defender could see himself as the fourth or even fifth pick. Therefore, Phillips may have no choice but to take up Sheffield United on their advances this summer.
