Liverpool are eyeing a 'surprise' move to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Randal Kolo Muani to bolster their attack this summer, according to Football Insider.

The Reds are expected to be busy in the upcoming transfer window once again, with new attackers expected to be a priority as Mohamed Salah prepares to depart after nine years at Anfield, while Hugo Ekitike has been sidelined for around nine months with a ruptured achilles tendon.

Spurs are battling against relegation and Kolo Muani, who is on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, has struggled in a poor team, which means his move is not expected to be made permanent, and Liverpool are ready to step in to keep him in the Premier League.

Liverpool Eyeing Kolo Muani Deal

Kolo Muani, who has been described as 'complete' by Kylian Mbappe, has managed just five goals and three assists during his time in north London this season, and is expected to leave the club whether they avoid relegation or not.

Now Liverpool are eyeing up a move to sign the 27-year-old France international as a potential replacement for Salah and Ekitike, with his ability to play out wide or through the middle seen as a positive for Arne Slot's system.

Paris Saint-Germain are willing to let the forward leave permanently this summer, three years after spending an incredible €90m (££78m) to bring him in from Eintracht Frankfurt. He has struggled in the French capital, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, where he found good form.

Spurs haven't been able to recreate the conditions for him to shine, but Liverpool believe he could be a cut-price option for them this summer to improve their attacking depth in a 'surprise' move.

However, according to Pete O'Rourke, a deal is currently seen as unlikely, with the player's wages and PSG's asking price likely to be prohibitive.

Liverpool Can Do Much Better Than Kolo Muani

Liverpool are in the market for a number of forwards this summer, and they know that they need to bring someone in who is ready to make an immediate impact on the first-team.

Kolo Muani, at his best, could be a shrewd bit of business, and could be the answer to those problems. But the Kolo Muani that we have seen over this season at Tottenham, and that we've seen at PSG for the majority of his time there, would not be helpful.

The Reds are understood to be chasing the likes of Yan Diomande, Michael Olise, and Bradley Barcola as first-choice options, and the gap in quality between them and Kolo Muani is evident. Liverpool can, and should, be aiming higher than a Spurs flop to strengthen their squad.
