Tottenham have added a new pre-season friendly against Wycombe Wanderers to their schedule.

Spurs announced that they are set to face League One side Wycombe at Hotspur Way in a behind-closed-doors friendly at 11 am on Saturday, 26 July, before travelling hours later to face Luton on the same day.

Thomas Frank explained via the official club website that he wanted to give his players more match minutes, hinting at two separate starting 11s for each fixture.

The double-header will give the Dane a better opportunity to assess his squad as Tottenham News predicts how the Lilywhites could line up.

James Maddison to return after recovering from injury

James Maddison has returned to training with the first team after recovering from the injury that saw him miss the latter stages of the UEFA Europa League campaign last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Frank has already alluded to the importance of the attacking midfielder and may be keen to see him in action against Wycombe, behind his international colleague, Dominic Solanke.

Son Heung-min will stay at Spurs until after the pre-season tour, and could line up in his preferred position on the left, with Brennan Johnson given the nod on the opposite flank.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr are expected to start in the centre of the park in a team that would look reminiscent of much of last season.

At the back, Cristian Romero and Kevin Danso may continue their partnership from Spurs’ 2-0 victory against Reading (19 July), while Pedro Porro and Ben Davies are predicted to complete the back four ahead of Guglielmo Vicario.

Yves Bissouma to miss out

Frank has five central midfielders in his Tottenham squad, and would need to sell one before making a move for Joao Palhinha as the 53-year-old looks to bring in a specialist number six this summer.

Yves Bissouma is the most likely to leave Spurs as he is in the final year of his contract with the North London club, and has failed to perform consistently since arriving from Brighton in June 2022.

The Mali international has also been embroiled in off-field issues during his time in N17, and has garnered interest from both Turkish and Italian clubs this summer.

Therefore, Bissouma is likely to miss out on a starting spot against both Wycombe and Luton this weekend.
