Manchester City, their neighbours Manchester United, London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, North East England outfit Newcastle United and Spanish sides Barcelona and Real Madrid will all probably be disappointed regarding youthful Leicester City star Jeremy Monga. That's if these huge organisations wish to sign the winger in January or July 2026. Allow me to explain.

The Monga mash

If we trust one questionable report which has been taken and ran with, generational Leicester City talent Jeremy Monga could be leaving the Leicestershire side this summer. Alternatively, and shockingly, the untrustworthy claim about the up-and-coming Fox suggests that he may even be able to be captured by larger, aggressive clubs from Europe's top five, preeminent divisions this coming January.

Although, according to a verified and totally more believable source, it appears Leicester were particularly prudent in signing Monga to a youth deal which runs out at the end of the season. Indeed, what I have deemed the far more trustworthy information has come from one of the most trusted sources for sports news on the planet.

This means created conjecture doing the rounds via a definitely contentious and lesser origin is certainly challengeable. To that end, you'll read my challenge today. Therefore it appears that the young winger cannot be signed in the New Year. This is due to having a 'one-year academy scholarship contract' at LCFC. In turn, the deal apparently 'automatically becomes professional in July 2026' upon the athlete turning 17 years old.

How we know Manchester City, Man United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and the rest like Real Madrid and Barcelona can't get their hand on Leicester City player Jeremy Monga for now or without heavy compensation

The claim that Monga's contract instantly becomes a professional when he turns 18 emerged from Rob Tanner at The Athletic. He is a well-known source LCFC supporters have faith in. What he originally stated is below:

"The earliest a professional contract can be offered to a player is when they turn 17, and in Monga’s case, there is a conditional professional deal already agreed and signed to automatically kick in when he turns 17.

What does this mean for Leicester City?

It means that Leicester know they are not about to lose Monga to another club, not without substantial compensation."

So, Monga cannot just be taken with ease as has been widely claimed; especially not in January. Additionally, a professional agreement is all but sealed - protecting City. Not to mention ensuring a proper fee if and when a transfer is eventually sanctioned.
