Manchester United might have failed to get the better of Tottenham on the pitch in the Europa League final, but they are now looking to hand the North London club a blow off it by pushing ahead with a move for a winger, who is thought to be high on Spurs’ summer shopping wishlist.

There are some great value deals to be had this summer, none more so than Rayan Cherki, who has emerged as one of the most talented attackers in Ligue 1 over the last couple of seasons.

Spurs and the winger’s other suitors received a major boost last week when Cherki confirmed that he will leave Lyon this summer.

The 21-year-old, who has one year left on his contract, has been heavily linked with a move to N17 over the last couple of months, and over recent days, some outlets have claimed that Tottenham have upped the ante in their pursuit of Rayan Cherki.

Man United enter race to sign Cherki from Lyon

United’s finances are not in the best shape after their failure to qualify for the Champions League, and unsurprisingly, it has now emerged that they are turning their attention to a bargain deal for Cherki.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has taken to social media to reveal that the Red Devils have become the latest club to enter the race for the Lyon man’s signature.

Plettenberg also confirmed what we have heard from other sources over recent weeks by stating that Liverpool are not particularly keen on landing the 21-year-old and are prioritising a move for Florian Wirtz instead.

Why Tottenham have a huge advantage over Man United in Rayan Cherki race

It was reported last week by GiveMeSport that Champions League qualification could have a big impact on Tottenham’s chances of landing Cherki.

Now that the Lilywhites have secured passage into Europe’s premier club tournament, they could thus have a huge advantage in the race to sign the France Under-21 international.

With Man United having no European football next season, one would think that Spurs would be a more attractive destination for the Lyon man this summer.
