Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly hard at work to lure Cameroon colleague Bryan Mbeumo to join Ruben Amorim's squad, amidst a tug-of-war with Tottenham. Mbeumo has caught the eye this summer following an outstanding season at Brentford, netting 20 goals in the Premier League and becoming the Bees' standout performer. His scintillating form has put him on the radar for a significant transfer.
The Red Devils are currently leading the race for his services, but with his boss Thomas Frank's move to Tottenham, Mbeumo is said to find the prospect of heading to North London 'intriguing'. Despite the allure of Spurs, it's believed that Mbeumo is still leaning towards Old Trafford as Amorim seeks to revamp his squad, which languished in 15th place last term, with Matheus Cunha already on board.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Onana is actively trying to sway Mbeumo to choose United over Spurs, capitalising on their strong bond from national duty with Cameroon.
Since making his debut for the national side in 2022, Mbeumo has earned 22 caps, while Onana boasts 48 appearances.
United's initial £60million offer for Mbeumo was rebuffed by Brentford and Tottenham have tabled a £70m bid, eager to reunite him with Frank.
With Mbeumo's contract set to expire next season, albeit with an option to extend until 2027, Brentford might be enticed to sell their prized asset while his stock is high.
Breaking his silence amidst the swirling speculation, Mbeumo chose to focus on his time at Brentford under Frank's guidance rather than address the rumours. "He (Frank)'s done so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start," he shared with Sky Sports.
"I think he developed the team so well. He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I'm sure he's going to do well. I can only wish him all the best and I'm sure he's going to do well."

He further praised Frank, adding: "He knows everything; he's really smart and knows what he wants to bring to the team, how he wants them to play. He's been fantastic for Brentford."
When questioned about the mounting speculation surrounding his future, Mbeumo responded: "It is a bit new for me, I would say! I think it can be the life of a footballer and you need to accept it."
