Manchester United consider move for Italy striker Mateo Retegui as Tottenham Hotspur eye up Lazio's Mario Gila - Euro Transfer News
In Wednesday's Euro Transfer News, Manchester United seem keen to add more strikers to their ranks, with Ruben Amorim reportedly eyeing up Mateo Retegui. Tottenham Hotspur are more concerned with shoring up their defence, and are keeping an eye on Lazio's Mario Gila, while Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid could find themselves back at the negotiating table, this time over youngster Endrick.
Manchester United eye Italian striker
Manchester United bolstered their firepower in the recent transfer window, but Fichajes is reporting that the club are eyeing up more strikers after a tricky start to the season.
Reports are that Italy international striker Mateo Retegui has caught the eye of Ruben Amorim, who is aware that United have at times lacked potency in front of goal.
Retegui had a stellar record for Atalanta before moving to Al-Qadsiah last year, so Amorim would need some serious cash if he is to prise the Italian away from Saudi Arabia, with the length of Retegui’s deal unknown.
"Last summer, Retegui was transferred to Al-Qadsiah for a fee of around €65-68 million, a deal that marked a turning point," the publication stated.
"Reports estimate that United could pay between €50-60 million for his signing, a figure that pales in comparison to what Al-Qadsiah paid, but which could convince if they negotiate well."
United have already signed strikers Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, from RB Leipzig and Wolverhampton Wanderers, respectively - but Amorim seems yet to decide on his first-choice team, with Retegui an interesting prospect for the Portuguese manager.
"Retegui's track record includes having been a Capocannoniere in Italy, something that Manchester would value as an immediate asset," the report continued.
"His goals were not infrequent: in one match, he scored four goals against Verona, demonstrating a constant finishing ability.
"Furthermore, having experience in different leagues gives him an advantage in the transition to English football, where many forwards stand out for their quick adaptation."
Tottenham considering a new centre-back
Tottenham Hotspur might be in the mood for some signings this coming January.
Despite a relatively strong start to the season, Thomas Frank has his eye on happenings over in Italy, reports Caught Offside.
And it is Spanish star Mario Gila that is the man in question, the Lazio centre-back impressing in Serie A this season.

"The defender has made six league appearances for the Italian club this season. With multiple English clubs tracking his situation and Lazio protected by a long contract, the chase for Gila is getting more intense," the report states.
"Tottenham are not alone. Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Everton have all kept close tabs on the Spaniard, and there was concrete interest in the summer, Brighton and Bournemouth are understood to have made contact with the player’s camp as they scoped out centre-back options.
"The defender has been previously linked with Tottenham’s Premier League rivals Chelsea.
"Any Spurs approach will therefore need to be both decisive and persuasive, with role clarity and pathway to minutes likely to matter as much as finance."
PSG debate swoop for Endrick
The current European champions Paris Saint-Germain are reported to be very interested in Brazilian star Endrick in the next transfer window.
Endrick has failed to earn a place in Real Madrid’s starting line-up, and might see a loan move in January as a way to kick-start his career.
"Los Blancos paid around €60 million to lure him away from Palmeiras, which suggested that they were convinced he had enough potential to develop into a world-beater," says One Football.
"However, the teenager has failed to earn a place in new manager Xabi Alonso’s plans, so his long-term future has been a hot topic over the past few weeks.
"Madrid could cut him loose in January, although only loan exits are on the cards at the moment."
PSG and Real Madrid have successfully negotiated in the past, most notably with the latter securing the services of Kylian Mbappe. But whether they can reach a deal for Endrick remains to be seen.
