Tottenham are planning for yet another prolonged summer reshuffle as Ange Postecoglou’s exit looks inevitable.

Daniel Levy has already committed to a different direction and is set to make a final decision on the managerial situation very soon.

A positive result in Thursday (5 May) night’s semi-final game against Bodo/Glimt would see Spurs one game win from a Europa League trophy and automatic Champions League qualification, but even so, Postecoglou’s position is at serious risk.

A dismal league season and underwhelming performances across the board have seen the club’s faith in the Australian gradually dwindle, with Marco Silva earmarked as the perfect replacement.

Silva rejects new contract at Fulham

Levy‘s admiration for Fulham’s head coach has been long-lasting, particularly with his ability to produce good football and adapt the team despite selling star players in Aleksandar Mitrovic and João Palhinha.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Fulham have been well aware of the outside interest in Silva’s services and were hoping to quickly agree an extension with the Portuguese manager, who has one year left on his contract.

They were reportedly dealt a huge blow, according to TBR football, as the 47-year-old is said to have rejected their offer of a new deal.

This will come as welcome news for Levy and co., although odds on Silva’s arrival in North London have been slashed after news emerged of an offer from Saudi Arabia being in the latter stages of negotiations.

Champions League qualification could save Tottenham

Tottenham’s ability to attract top-tier players and managers to North London could hinge on whether they can, against all odds, secure Champions League football next season.

The appeal of joining a club currently in 16th place, with reports emerging of disgruntlement surrounding star players such as Cristian Romero, and without the offer of European football, would be very low, especially given how short-lived managerial reigns have been since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure.

It is therefore imperative that they succeed in the Europa League to give themselves the best chance to turn their fortunes around and bring optimism back to the club.
