Amidst rumours of talks with Tottenham Hotspur, Marcus Rashford has now spoken publicly about where he sees his future.

The England striker has impressed on loan at Barcelona this term, and the Catalan club have a €30m (£26m) option to buy Rashford at the end of the season.

However, over recent weeks, it has emerged that Spurs had held a discreet meeting with Marcus Rashford’s representatives regarding a switch to North London next summer.

It has been alleged that Tottenham had promised the Man United star a leading role under Thomas Frank to turn his head, but the forward has now made his stance clear.

Marcus Rashford has dealt Tottenham a huge blow

The 29-year-old has now set the record straight on his future, making it clear that he is happy in Catalonia.

The forward admitted that he wants to stay at Barca and continue to compete for major honours.

When asked about his future, Rashford told Sport: “Of course, what I want is to stay at Barca. It’s the ultimate goal, but it’s not the reason I’m training hard and giving my all. The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles.

“There is pressure here, but it’s not negative pressure; it’s the kind you crave as a player, the kind I want and have always wanted as a footballer. I can’t be in a place where there aren’t high expectations; for me, it’s harder to stay motivated and give my best at a club where the demands aren’t at their peak.

“I’m in the perfect place and environment to continue my journey as a footballer, so I’m just trying to give my best every day and help the team win. We’ll see what happens next summer.”

Do Spurs stand a chance of landing Rashford?

Reports have indicated that Barca may have issues activating the option to buy Rashford due to their financial problems.

However, the same update suggested that the La Liga club want to keep hold of the England international and that the forward is not willing to talk to other clubs for the time being.

It thus appears that Tottenham have their work cut out to convince the Man United academy graduate about a move to N17.
