Leeds United have received another huge boost in their quest for Premier League survival via key relegation rivals being dealt a big new blow.

Friday night’s 3-1 win at home to already-relegated Burnley put Leeds nine points clear of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur with just four games remaining for Spurs but also seven points clear of fourth-bottom West Ham, again who had four games to play.

Of the teams still battling to avoid the drop, West Ham were next to play on Saturday afternoon with a clash at Brentford in a 3pm kick-off.

The Hammers lined up having lost just one of their last six Premier League games but an impressive Brentford side sealed a 3-0 success which lifted them into sixth place and left the Irons in danger of dropping into the relegation zone.

As far as Leeds are concerned, the Whites stay seven points ahead of the Hammers but with both teams now having just three games left each, the Irons hosting title-chasing Arsenal in their next match.

West Ham remain just two points ahead of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur but Spurs can now move out of the drop zone and above the Irons with a win from their game in hand at Aston Villa on Sunday night.
