Thomas Frank will have seen worse international breaks while managing a football club.

Tottenham have started well under Frank, as the coach will be delighted to hear the impressive performances of some of his players over the international break.

Pedro Porro has been in red-hot form for Spain, as he is seen as key to any chance of Tottenham’s success this year, with Micky van de Ven and Xavi Simons displaying quality for the Netherlands.

Unfortunately, Yves Bissouma was stretchered off the field while on international duty, with the midfielder’s Spurs career seeming all but over.

Djed Spence earned his second call-up to the England squad and has drawn positive attention from another former Three Lions defender in Micah Richards.

Micah Richards stunned by Djed Spence’s versatility for England

Spence has impressed while away for England, as the versatile Tottenham defender seems an appealing choice for Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel played Spence in multiple positions against Wales and Latvia, and Richards couldn’t help but praise the Tottenham man while speaking on The Rest Is Football.

“I think Spence played left-back, one game played right-back, really good one-on-one defending, technically good, can go forward.

“I think he’s done himself well. In that position as well, there are so many: Trent [Alexander-Arnold], Reece James and [Tino] Livramento.”

In the 5-0 win over Latvia on Tuesday, Spence registered three tackles – only Elliot Anderson (four) had more – while also registering a clearance and an interception.

Spence’s 93 per cent pass accuracy was also very high and his 107 touches were bettered only by – against – Anderson with 150.

Not only that, Spence also showed what he is capable of in an attacking sense with one shot.

While there’s no doubt Spence has done himself a world of good for his World Cup 2026 ambitions, he’s also proved a point to his Tottenham boss.

Spence ready to cement himself in Spurs side over Destiny Udogie

Since getting back to full fitness under Frank, Destiny Udogie has impressed at Tottenham once again, after a rollercoaster season last campaign.

The Italian is a natural left-back, and with Porro a staple in the Tottenham team sheet, Spence’s main competition is Udogie.

It helps that Tottenham are progressing in both the Carabao Cup and Champions League, as more games are available to the pair.

However, after Spence’s England performances, it would be a shock not to see his name in the starting lineup when Tottenham play Aston Villa on Sunday.
