Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals of the Europa League but Michael Dawson has a warning for his former team.

Ange Postecoglou will lead Tottenham Hotspur out on two huge nights under the lights in April as the Lilywhites look to book their place in a major European semi-final.

Under normal circumstances, Spurs might come into the two-legged tie as favourites, but Eintracht Frankfurt are currently in the top four in the Bundesliga. Meanwhile, Tottenham are down in 14th in the Premier League table.

A supercomputer recently predicted that Frankfurt will get the better of Tottenham in the Europa League quarter-final, but Postecoglou will back his boys to overcome the odds.

Michael Dawson thinks Eintracht Frankfurt will be a danger for Tottenham

Speaking exclusively to Spurs Web at the recent Tottenham Legends match against AC Milan Glorie, Dawson insisted that the season hinges on the upcoming double-header against Frankfurt.

He said: “You know, we see where Spurs are in the league unfortunately – not where we expected to be. We’ve had lots of challenges with the injuries, but we’ve still got that opportunity to get to the final of the Europa League and that happy memory.

“Frankfurt will be a big challenge, no doubt I think they’re a good team. I know they lost Omar Marmoush who is a big loss for them, but they’ve still got big strengths.

“Every game is important, I always say that. So, the next one [against Chelsea] is the most important. They have to try and win football matches because it breeds confidence, and the fans will be excited going into that game against Frankfurt.

“It’s all on those two games. There’s no chance of getting in on our league position – that’s fact. They [the Spurs players] realise the importance of those two games.”

Spurs squad are confident heading into Europa League clash

Djed Spence came out this week and insisted that Tottenham have to start winning trophies as a big club, and he believes it can start with the Europa League this season.

While Spence seems a guaranteed starter in those two legs against Frankfurt – either at right-back or left-back – the front three is still up for debate.
