Premier League icon Michael Owen feels West Ham United are the most impressive of the four teams battling against the drop while tipping Tottenham Hotspur to join Wolves and Burnley in the relegation zone.

While Leeds took a giant stride towards safety at Old Trafford, Nuno Espirito Santo’s 17th-place outfit suddenly have their fate in their own hands.

Since Callum Wilson fired the Hammers past Tottenham on January 17th, a team who spent the majority of the campaign in the bottom three have picked up the fifth most points in the Premier League; behind only Man United, Arsenal, Man City and Bournemouth.

Where will West Ham finish this season? 📈 And who will be relegated? ⬇️

Mind the gap, Tottenham Hotspur 😂

West Ham United have accumulated 18 from the last 33 available. That is a staggering 15 more than Spurs. Leeds have picked up 14 in the same time frame, slightly ahead of Nottingham Forest on 12th.

Michael Owen predicts West Ham United to stay in the Premier League

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen weighs up the form table against the respective run-ins of the survival-battling quartet, and concludes that Tottenham fans will be booking Premier Inns at Preston next season.

“Well, what we’ve got is Leeds, they’ve got the best run-in. Wolves and Burnley at home, they’ll be alright,” former Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United striker Owen says.

“Forest, they’re in decent enough form. Burnley at home [next up], that’s a winnable game. Of course, they at home on the last game of the season [vs Bournemouth], and they are three points ahead of Tottenham.

“West Ham are probably in the best form out of these four teams. They’re playing exceptionally well. They’ve got the momentum, and they’ve got a couple of games that they possibly should win as well. A couple of home games that they might have a chance at.

“I think before this weekend, I thought it was between Leeds and Tottenham to go down. After that result [at Old Trafford], I’m favouring Tottenham to go down.”

Hammers fans dreaming of Tottenham Hotspur relegation

Hammers News ran a poll shortly after Dino Mavropanos and Taty Castellanos hit a brace apiece in Friday’s 4-0 thrashing of Wolves.

A staggering 88 per cent of you voted for Spurs to go down rather than for Arsenal to chuck away another league title. Such a result should not come as a surprise, of course, given that relegation for Tottenham would mean West Ham remain a top-flight side for 2025/26.

A mid-table, Conference League battling Crystal Palace feels very ‘on the beachy’, on paper. West Ham face Palace next weekend at Selhurst Park.

Of course, Nuno still has a clash with Arsenal to look forward to, but Everton, Brentford, a below-par Newcastle and Leeds on the final day are all games the Hammers should be looking to secure results in.
