While settling into life at Tottenham Hotspur will be made easier for Xavi Simons owing to the presence of his international teammate Micky van de Ven, the centre-back is not the only Spurs player that the newcomer knows well.
Simons was presented to the fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of kick-off against Bournemouth, and the new signing got a rousing reception from the supporters.
However, the 22-year-old would not have been too impressed with what he saw from his new teammates on the pitch, with the Cherries dominating proceedings.
In fact, the 1-0 scoreline flattered the home side, with Thomas Frank’s men being brought down to earth after winning their first two league games of the season.

Tottenham lacked creativity against the South Coast side, and that is a problem that Simons will help fix when he links up with the side.
The former RB Leipzig man will have a familiar face in the dressing room, having played with Van de Ven for the Netherlands, but he is not the only Spurs player he has shared a dressing room with.
Wilson Odobert and Simons came through the ranks of the Paris Saint-Germain team together, and according to TBR Football, they played 10 games together for the PSG Under-19 side.

The duo both left the Parisians in the summer of 2022, with Odobert joining Troyes and Simons signing for PSV Eindhoven, and the pair have now been reunited again at Spurs three years on.
