Tottenham have been given a huge boost in warding off advances for Mikey Moore this summer.

Moore has become a player for Spurs’ academy hopefuls to look up to after enjoying a breakthrough campaign under Ange Postecoglou last season.

It has been suggested that the left winger could thrive under Thomas Frank’s assistant coach, Justin Cochrane, next year, although the teenager has also been linked with a move away from Tottenham.

However, recent transfer news might have convinced Moore to stay put.

Antoine Semenyo extends his contract at Bournemouth

Tottenham have been linked with several wingers, with reported interest in Antoine Semenyo.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is a signing which might have blocked Moore’s path to the first team in North London. As a result, it was suggested that the 17-year-old could look to leave Tottenham on loan or permanently, with Juventus expressing an interest.

However, as confirmed by Bournemouth on Tuesday (1 July), Semenyo has signed a new contract at the Vitality Stadium.

This will no doubt come as a blow for Tottenham, as Daniel Levy misses out on another target.

However, this could be just the news Moore needs to reject Juventus and continue at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the foreseeable future.

Therefore, while Semenyo is another player who has slipped through Levy’s fingers, this could be a blessing in disguise for the Tottenham Chairman.

Frank must trust Moore

Moore has proven under Postecoglou that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level. It is now time for Frank to extend the same grace as his former coach.

Indeed, the youngster could thrive if allowed to cut inside and position himself closer toward the goal. This could be compatible with Frank’s style of play and his desire for his wingers to see more of the goal.

As a result, the Dane should give Moore a chance to play within his system before jumping to any conclusions about his short-term or long-term future.
